# Importing from Postman, OpenAPI and HAR

You do not have to retype your requests. Open a project, go to the **Import** tab and choose a file. gurl recognises the format on its own and says how many requests it created.

| Source | What you get |
| --- | --- |
| Postman collection, format v2.1 or v2.0 | One request per item. Folders become tags, and the collection's variables become an environment, so `{{name}}` keeps working. |
| OpenAPI 3 or Swagger 2, JSON or YAML | One request per operation, against the server the spec declares. |
| HAR file from a browser | One request per call the page made. Static assets such as images and scripts are skipped, and gurl lists what it left out. |
| cURL command | Paste it into the project tree's cURL import to get one request. |

Postman collections in the old v1 format are not read. Postman converts them to v2.1 when you export them again.

## After importing

- Pick or fill in the [environment](./environments.md) the requests expect.
- Add [checks](./checks.md) to the requests you want to assert on in a [benchmark](../performance/benchmarks.md) or in [CI](../sharing/ci.md).
- [Share the project through git](../sharing/git.md) when the team should have it too.
